I like objects which show who their maker was. And I like it if the pleasure of work done by hand is reflected in the workmanship of details.
While building a piece of furniture it is important to me that the material, the structure and the shape should mutually influence one another. I like to show the fine structure in wood.
I usually pick hardwoods for my furniture, mostly cherry, maple, walnut, ash and oak.
